  1. The circuit reverses the characteristics of the wheel, 
  2. just as Xerography reverses the characteristics of 
  3. the printing press. Before printing, the scribe, 
  4. author and publisher became highly specialized and 
  5. centralized forms of action. With Xerography, 
  6. author and publisher and reader tend to merge once 
  7. more. Whereas the printed book had been the first 
  8. mass-produced product, creating uniform prices 
  9. and markets, Xerography tends to restore the 
  10. custom-made book. Writing and publishing tend to 
  11. become services of a corporate and inclusive kind. 
  12. The printed word created the Public. The Public 
  13. consists of separate individuals, each with his own 
  14. point of view. Electric circuitry does not create a
